1. What Folderwise Is

Folderwise ("we", "us", "our") provides a voice-first email management service that helps users triage their email inbox in under five minutes each morning. This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our web application at folderwise.app.

2. The Core Privacy Principle

Folderwise is architecturally body-blind. We request only the minimum permissions needed to triage your inbox:

Email sender
Email subject line
Email date/time

We never request, read, store, or process the body content of your emails. This is not a policy preference — it is enforced at the code level by limiting our IMAP and OAuth scopes accordingly.

3. Information We Collect

Account Information

Your name and email address when you register. This is used to authenticate you and associate your email account connections with your profile.

Email Metadata (Headers Only)

Sender address, subject line, and received date of unread emails — fetched live during each Morning Brief session. This metadata is processed in-memory to generate triage decisions and is not stored long-term.

Triage Session Data

We store anonymized session logs (emails processed, actions taken, session duration) to power your personal dashboard analytics. These logs do not contain email content.

User Preferences

Settings you configure: default triage actions, voice shortcuts, calendar integration preferences, and notification settings.

Billing Information

Payment processing is handled entirely by Stripe. Folderwise never receives or stores your credit card number. We store your Stripe customer ID and subscription status to manage your plan.

Usage Analytics

We collect aggregate usage metrics (session counts, feature usage) to improve the product. These are tied to your account but never shared with third parties for advertising purposes.

4. OAuth & Email Permissions

When you connect Gmail or Outlook, you grant Folderwise OAuth access with limited scopes:

Gmail: gmail.readonly and gmail.modify — used to read headers and apply actions (archive, delete, label)
Outlook: Mail.ReadWrite — used to read headers and apply actions

You can revoke this access at any time via Google's security settings (myaccount.google.com/permissions) or Microsoft's account settings, which will immediately disconnect Folderwise from your inbox.

5. How We Use Your Information

To authenticate you and manage your account
To fetch and triage your email headers during Morning Brief sessions
To execute triage actions you confirm (delete, file, archive, unsubscribe)
To power your personal analytics dashboard
To process subscription payments via Stripe
To send transactional emails (account notifications, billing receipts)
To improve AI triage accuracy using aggregate, anonymized decision patterns

We do not sell your data. We do not use your data for advertising. We do not share your personal information with third parties except as described in this policy.

6. Data Retention

Triage session metadata is retained for up to 12 months to power your dashboard history. You can request deletion of all your data at any time by contacting richy@folderwiseai.com. Account deletion removes all associated data within 30 days.

7. Security

We use industry-standard security practices including TLS encryption in transit, encrypted storage at rest, and strict access controls. OAuth tokens are stored encrypted and are never logged. We undergo periodic security reviews.

8. Third-Party Services

Stripe — payment processing. Subject to Stripe's privacy policy.
Google / Microsoft — OAuth providers for email access.
AI providers — email metadata (headers only) may be processed by third-party AI APIs (e.g., Claude/Anthropic) to generate triage recommendations. No email body content is ever sent to AI providers.

9. Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have rights to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at richy@folderwiseai.com. We will respond within 30 days.

10. Children's Privacy

Folderwise is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us immediately.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes via email or an in-app notice at least 14 days before they take effect. Continued use of Folderwise after that date constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
